Guess what gang? Finally got around to digging. All that rain has paid dividends and we've finally got a resonable size patch dug and weeded. Yipeeeeeeeeeee!
Also got two patches on the side we're leaving till spring cut down and covered with weed suppressant, so it is now starting to look like a garden, as opposed to a wilderness.
Talk about a sense of acheivement. Even hubby (quote, it's your allotment, but I'll do the non-gardening stuff for you if you like) has been telling the neighbours how OUR (!) allotment is coming on!
I'll make a gardener out of him yet!
It's no end easier when the soil's damp. I've actually started making some progress extending my brick path in the last few days; it was so concrete-like it defeated me.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Well done Shas! It's great when you can finally see the wood for the trees!
What are you going to plant first? Any chance we can see pics of the hard work that's gone on?
;)
After coming back from holiday I was pleased to be able to jump on a clump on soil and it break up. Sounds like your hubby enjoys it really but doesn't let on, bit like mine haha
Dead right Rosie, I think he's still got the old image of allotments! He seems to be getting on well with other plot holders though. He's also found out that the chap on the next plot used to work for the Post office, as he did, and they have lots of mutual friends.
Will try and post some pics Katey when I find the leady-thing for my camera. Seems to have vanished out the drawer where we keep all the 'techy stuff'. Must try little g'daughters toybox, that's where most lost things seem to re-appear. But as she's now a great big 6, I can only do things like that when she's back at school on the pretex of 'having a tidy'. Not allowed to throw anything out!!
Just need rain at night now, and sunshine in the daytime to ripen off the toms, cucumbers and peppers in the garden (sorry, postage stamp). Not too much rain though Robert, as I'd hate to be responsible for your brickwork being washed out.
Will have a word with my pal when I see her coz I think she's got the same camera as us, and ask to borrow her lead .
Stand by for the next thrilling installment. By the way, the soil seems to be in fairly good condition under all the weeds and rubbish. Lots of nice fat worms lurking in there. Doesn't take much to make us gardeners happy does it? Thanks for all the good wishes.

ahhhhhhhh you have one of those too ? as my OH is a computer geek, we have about 6 drawers, boxes (cardboard AND plastic ones on wheels) that are full to the gunnels with spare bits "just in case".
;D
