Post by: ruud on April 02, 2004, 19:52:36
Today i had a day of,and went to my allotment to do a hugh amount of work!!!!! First my neighbour had to lent my two hands,to help him with his fench. It ends in two hours hard work, but not at my ALLOTMENT!!!!Am i so silly or what?So after that they keep me in peace, could i finally do something for my self.Fhinishing my cold frame, where i was working on all the week after work.It resulted in a cold frame with the sizes 3 meter by 0.5 meter by 0.5 meter high.Yes i carried away with the lenght but i want to grow a melon in it a italiaan one named zatta. After that i sowed some sugar snaps, leaf chicory-rossa di verona, zuccherina di trieste, variegata di castelfranco and catalogna frastagliata.Beetroot chioggio very sweet one and when you sliced him you see nice white rings. So at the end it turned into a italiaan day.

How wonderful Ruud.  Was the weather Italian also? And what is a 'Fench'?  I am growing my melons in the open on my sunniest patch so fingers crossed we have a long Italian summer.

In Essex we had a cloudy start but the day brightened and we had a wonderful afternoon so I got down into the greenhouse.  To continue your Italian theme, I noticed my sweet basil is germinating like mad, and, coincidentally enough, I had spagetti for dinner, with lashings of last years fresh basil which is still thriving in my conservatory!
