Post by: Rosa_Mundi on August 22, 2006, 21:15:22
Can anyone give me a firm ID for this, please? It was bought dormant as a rudbeckia!!!

Oh, and the flowers are rather redder than this picture - the light was poor at the time.

Yes definitely a Phlox of some sort not Rudbekia!

Looks healthy - my phlox have been scorched and now mildew'd.

Thanks, Palustris - will follow that route in searching further.
Froglets - it was put into a pot in spring and left in a semi-shaded spot - very little attention at all. It's presumably quite a tough variety.

Cold be Phlox Lilac Time but there are many varieties.

Thanks, Laurie - the flowers and leaves are very close, but the flowers are actually quite red - the picture was taken by flash late in the day. I did wonder about "Red Riding Hood", but can't find a picture anywhere online.
