Title: Potatoe varieties
Post by: laurieuk on August 21, 2006, 21:20:33
I have just received the seed potatoe list for next year from our local Allotment Association. They are listing 37 different varieties including "Marfona" which they say is very drought resistant.Interested to know if anyone has tried this one. Next year I see all varieties are the same price £2.55 for 3kg bag.

Don't grow potatoes as haven't got enough room, but Marfona is one of my absolute favorites (bought from supermarkets).

It is a lovely waxy variety, with lots of taste.

Own grown should be far superior to 'shop bought', but the ones I buy in Sainsburys are extremely good.

Either way, it is a variety that I would thoroughly recommend.
