After following advice on a previous thread i have clipped the strawberry plants that are no longer fruiting right back to the crow.
They are still sprouting new leaves do i keep cutting them back.
I have around 10 plants i have potted from runners do these get the same treatment i wont be planting them in the ground until next year and i will be wintering them in the greenhouse.
Thanks Gurus
You have,nt cut back all the folage have you. As you leave the the young new growth in the centre.
Leave all the new leaves and the crown growth - that is what will give you your fruit next year.
Don't cut any leaves off your runners, leave them as they are and allow to establish. You only cut back after fruiting - and should leave about 4 inches above the crown I think.
Best to get your runners in the ground early this autumn, they'll have a better chance of fruiting next year.
