Title: Storage of potatoes
Post by: Sparky.p on August 17, 2006, 21:15:22
Hi Members,

As a newish member to growing potatoes has anyone stored these in cardboard boxes instead of bags?
Cardboard boxes would be a easier to place one on top of each other as I do not have a shed to keep them in.

I believe cool and dark is the key, light may turn them green, (not nice) :o

My husband grows enough potatoes to last us from one year to the next and he stores them in boxes which he keeps in the garage.

He sorts them into the same size before storing.

He uses photocopier paper cardboard boxes which one of our daughters in law gets from the school where she teaches and they are ideal, being quite strong with good fitting lids.
