Title: A good book.
Post by: Colin_Bellamy-Wood on April 01, 2004, 20:28:38
I don't normally have time for much reading, BUT my wife recently bought a couple of books by Gervase Phinn.

I've just finished the first one "The Other Side of the Dale", (in less than a week) and it's an account of a Yorkshire Schools Inspector, Gervase Phinn, and his anecdotes as he meets, in particular, children of various ages, and the things they say.   It is both very amusing, and at times there is pathos.

I must start his second book "Over Hill and Dale" which continues his travels amongst the Yorkshire Dales children.

A third book has just been released, and I will be getting that soon.

For those of you that love children, and I suspect that 99.99% of you do, if you haven't read these books, can I recommend them to you.

Is this the book that was serialised on Radio 4 last year - if so, superb.  My mum and dad are retired heads and really rate this guy as telling it like it is!

Ceri, I'm not sure of the answer to your question, but suspect that the answer would be YES.   He's listed as having been on Esther, BBC2, twice.
