Title: Rain dance
Post by: Mrs Ava on March 31, 2004, 18:07:20
Pottered around in the garden today, couldn't go out as new sofa was being delivered and of course they couldn't narrow down timings.  Boy the ground is hard and dry in places.  My pots are looking a little wilted, my greenhouse trays dry out in the course of the day.  I love this sun, it has been a glorious couple of days, altho the wind has been a touch biting in this part of Essex, but now I am hoping it will piddle down!  The sky is dark grey, and a breeze has gotten up so my fingers are crossed.  Ava won't be chuffed riding home on his bike, but if it doesn't rain tonite, I am going to have to get the hose pipe out tomorrow!  :o

My rain measure is full to over-flowing. If it rains here again I know who to blame!

A ten minute downpour.  Will have to check tomorrow to see if it was enough to fill my half empty waterbutt.  Oh well, enough to settle in the plants I managed to get out today, the hosepipe can stay coiled for another day.

I noticed some of my soil is already hard and cracked in places.

Also out riding yesterday, we were trotting along side the football pitch and the horse's hooves were making clopping noises on the ground already! A few weeks ago it was too boggy to do anything, now it's too hard! (Did manage to find a softer, grassy bit and have a good gallop along there.  ;D)
