Hello and welcome to a fabulous site. You will find all your answers here, and you are surrounded by Brummies too, no doubt they will introduce themselves soon enough. I am just a bit further away to the east ...

Hi Tracy! Welcome to A4A!!  Congratulations on getting an allotment, and I am sure you will enjoy having one, especially once you have produce to harvest.  Are you going to get the kids involved in the lottie, as many hands make light work, though it sounds as though you have the right idea on how to tackle it.  Keep us updated with your progress.  :) busy_lizzie

Hi ,
I'm Tracy's mom. We went with her yesterday to help her to choose the best allotment to take on.We needn't have bothered because they all looked the same. Just like one big field. You just chose the bit you wanted. It's such a shame when we hear that some folks in other parts of the country cannot get a plot. Originally my father in law had a plot on there during the war when there were about 200 plots on the site. Since then they have gradually been taken over for housing. Now there are about 50 left with only around 20 in use. We live about 5 miles away and all we could get was half a plot. Theres one good thing about where she's gonna be digging, the kiddies will have loads of room to play. There are no other plots near hers, so she won't have to worry about them wandering on to other peoples plots. Thankyou for making her feel welcome
Shirley

Oo, welcome and good luck Tracy. Armed with a supportive mum and A4a right behind you ... couldn't be better!
A tip I picked up (sadly too late for my own ONE lad) is to give each child their own territory - about a square metre - for growing stuff, as well as having them help for 10 mins at a time on the general work on the plot ::)

Welcome Tracy. I don't have allotment but do take the advice of other members on A4A when they say "Do a little at a time". I am sure the children will have fun with you. I expect Mum has told you what a great site A4A is. Good luck
Lorna

Hello Tracy, I'm one of the Birmingham lot & in S. Birmingham. My plottie's my garden - less and less grass each year = more and more eats ;D

Welcome to Lotties4, pleased that your mum's brought you along here and have fun browsing.....lots of peeps here who've started their 'lotments from scratch & posted pix. Lots of good foodie things to cook in Recipes as well :)

Cheers! Lishka

and as for my mom and dad you'd only need to look at there garden and allotment to see how much of a help they will be , i know they will help as much as they can .... i was always in the garden with my mom when i was little and enjoyed it so much i hope my kids will too! :)

Hi and welcome to A4A !!
I'm sure you will find every thing you need on this site, I love it on here.  ::)
Thought I'd got a tribe with four I'm sure the 'lottie will soon be knocked into shape with every body helping. It's just amazing how much kids learn when they are helping with the gardening.   ;)
I'm new to all this and have just acquired a camera so that I can put photos on the site, they certainly boost me to see other folks before and after pictures, so if you can lets see yours  ;D

Do put up some pics if you can. A £10 donation to Dan will help keep the site going, and get you a year's worth of photo-posting privileges. Otherwise use Photobucket or something similar, and you can still post them via the URL's. I'm from Ladywood, with a plot on the Guinea Gardens; where's yours?

Hi Tracey, welcome to this great site, lots of help on here when you need it.
Do not worry to much about £10 for posting pictures untill you get settled .  I am sure you need all your money at the mo for your lovely family. i see you have heard from the terrible twins Lorna & Liska, they let them out for the day now & again ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. Cheers Rosebud.
