I love the way these just appear out of nowhere, without a leaf in sight.
Lovely.
ANd when you do get the leaves, they have a beauty all of their own
Ours are much earlier this year than ever before.
I've planted snowdrops in amongst them. In Spring it's lovely to see the snowdrops with the cyclamen foliage around them.

That's how I grow them as well.
The snowdrops do look lovely RB, don't they in amongst the cyclamen foliage.
Do you also grow cyclamen coum, which flowers from January?
valmarg
I don't at the moment; I ought to.
you've already got cyclamen?? wow that's early! mine aren't even thinking of waking up yet.
It is a bit early; the first flowers appeared at the beginning of the month. I really must get some other species as well; I started planting flowers round the allotment as a result of pure chance; I was given a heap of binbags full of what turned out to be really nice plants, and had nowhere else to put them. It's been far too much a case of what came rather than a coherent garden. For that matter, I'm still putting in plants other people have dumped and waiting to see what they turn into, it's a real bad habit.
If I can get a load of Cyclamen coum for starters, since they're available fairly cheap, bulbs to come after the snowdrops, and low-growing plants which will bloom during the summer, then I should be able to transform those beds.
R_B, if you want some cyclamen coum corms, I have got quite a lot surplus to requirements. I planted a load of both varieties in a bit of a rockery on the side of the drive, and they have absolutely loved the place. Have seeded down right left and centre.
We had to dig the rockery out a couple of years ago, it had become overrun with grass, etc. I potted up a lot of the corms, and the autumn/spring after we dug it out, it was obvious that there was going to be no room for the potted up corms. They are going spare, and if you can give them a good home you are more than welcome to them.
From your profile, you are not a million miles from here. If you PM me, your address I could post some to you. Alternatively, if you have a young family, and Alton Towers was on your agenda, you could call round and pick them up (together with some free tickets!!)

PM sent, thanks.
