Title: Teeny Sweetcorn
Post by: blisters on August 10, 2006, 22:05:04
My sweetcorn are only about 2 foot tall with no sign of tassles or flowers :'(

Is there any point in persevering with them or should I bite the bullet and pull them all up?

Thanks in advance

Variety is important some modern varieties stay small... even if not the stress that is keeping it small should encourage it to flower and set one cob per plant... rather than 2-4...
???

I'm growing Northern Extra Sweet this year and the plants are only about 1.5 foot tall! ::)
I did hear they are a short variety but still... :-[ Despite the plant size, they started to form cobs. I'm not sure if I get decent cobs though...

I've got 2 varieties - both F1's.  One is Ovation from DT Brown and I can't remember what the other is.

I was quite late planting (bit of an afterthought really) sometime in June I think.

If there is a glimmer of hope I'll leave them in, as they aren't really in the way as they are interplanted with the squash.

Thanks everyone.
