Title: Nice damp morning!
Post by: Mrs Ava on August 09, 2006, 09:46:10
Lovely to see it rained here in Essex in the early hours.  The ground is still wet now and 10am is fast approaching!  Might drag the urchins to the plot shortly as we have lots for the compost heap, and after the rain on Monday and again today, I imagine there will be courgettes aplenty!  Then blackberry hunting...have a few spot to check, altho my best spot is no longer there thanks to developers throwing up a load of new houses!  :-\  Have a nide day peeps.

Don't want it to rain today - at least not until I have finished replacing the conservatory roof anyway !!! The heat of the summer has damaged it, distortion and splitting in some areas, so a new one it is ...

Hot day yesterday, but then it rained heavily in the evening.  Dried up over night and we have another hot sunny day today.  There is definitely a change taking place though, as the evenings are becoming colder and darker and have that feel about them! busy_lizzie

Sun is shining in the Scot. Borders but  oh the wind is blowing real hard.  My weeping willow is bent over with the d a m n  wind.  Not so warm either, about 17C.  I do hope the warmth returns before autumn turns up.

Roofing task completed, so at least my conservatory is weather tight again. Not fun refitting the panels in these winds though ! At least it stayed dry.

Well, went to our blackberry spot, and altho there are masses of fruitlets, they are way of ripening yet.  Essex blackberries must be very different from all of yours!!  Didn't get to the allotment, am going to pop up with my darling later when he gets in.  Have spent the morning hacking lumps out of our weeping willow.  It is a job I do every year as left to it's own devices, it would take over the neighbourhood!  Also clearing the woodland garden as I am planning to totally change this and create a boggy area instead.  The woodland garden is only good in the spring, and I figure that the primulas and astilbes will look great in there in spring, and I can plant the bluebells (thanks Eileen  :-*) around the edge, slightly more under the tree, out of the bog.  Also planning to move the stream as I want it to be more of a feature but of course, these things aren't as easy as at first seems!
