Title: British Telecom
Post by: Mrs Ava on August 08, 2006, 09:42:40
Tch...been up since the crack of dawn as BT are supposed to be coming between 8am and 1pm to sort out our crackling telephone line.  It is a recurring problem, which each time they deny being their fault, then each time they discover it is, and each time we receive compensation in the form of free line rental for a quarter or 2.  The problem is our houses were all built at the end of the 60's start of the 70's and all of the cabling was cleverly put neatly under ground....great....until it goes wrong!  :-X  Of course, I want them to come, but I wish they had arrived at 8am.  It is a gorgeous day and I want to get back out into the garden, instead, I have cleaned the floor in the conservatory, tidied the kids rooms, changed the beds, and hoovered top to bottom!  Am now going to make a cup of tea and go read with the kids - they are doing something through the library called the 'Reading Mission' where they read a book then write a brief report.  The idea is to get kids reading, sharing books with eachother, understanding the book and as a reward they get a certificate for starting and a medal for finishing.

I can sympathise with you EJ.

There's a problem with our line at home too, it crackles when I call someone and if a call comes in they're disconnected before I can answer the blummin thing!

Phoned BT yesterday, who said it is a problem from their end and an engineer will be out on the 14th August!!!

Ah well, they're diverting all calls at no extra cost to my mobile and have said we'll be compensated  £1 a day!

I had the locksmith out yesterday to replace a broken lock on the front door of the church flat. Today I was relaxing down the allotment when I got an SOS; it was totally stuck and the people were trapped inside! I had to get a very rickety ladder out of the garage, where it was completely buried, get in through a first-floor window, and force the lock, then phone the locksmith (I don't think it was his fault; I've used him several times and he's always been excellent) then take the wretched thing off the door so it was usable. They're using the deadlock overnight, and he'll be out first thing. What a palaver!

14th August Money-Bunny!  Blimey - we did alright then as we only called the out on Sunday evening, and sure enough, a very tall engineer arrived at about 11.30 and checked that the fault was infact external and not our equipment, and by 12.30, job done - a loose connection up the road where some new houses have been built.  Painless for me and a nice quiet, reliable phone line again.

What are you having plastered GW?

You be careful up dodgy ladders Robert or you won't be much good in church or on the allotment!!
