Any chance of a few Chires Baby Sweet Corn seeds in time for next spring. Go on, you know you want to............ pretty please with a cherry on top ;)
We can't get 'em over here you see :'(
My OH has friends in the Us, he will be talking to them later. I will ask him to ask them if they will send any. I will post them on if I have success
Top girl ;D
Is that OK to do? We're not allowed to take seeds into the US I was told.
Oooo I don't know. I suppose we can ask and see what happens! I thought as long as the package is labelled as to exactly what's inside...
If it's OK, and if yr OH's friends can't oblige, I could have a look for MT when I'm over there at the end of September. A good excuse to Go Shopping ;D
Don't know if you can order them online? Postage might be exorbitant. e.g. www.seedsofchange.com (http://www.seedsofchange.com)
People in the US can get a license to import small quantities of cleaned seed quite easily.
I order seeds from the states regularly so there's no problem with bringing them into the UK ;D
Sadly seeds of change are the only supplier I can find and they don't export :'( that's why I need some kind soul who is living in/visiting the USA to do the deed. Thankyou all for your help..............so far ;)
I have phoned Defra and they say that this will be fine as there are no regulations on sweetcorn and as it's only 1 packet.
Lish, maybe you should give them a ring to ask about bringing seeds back with you?
MT, my kind OH has asked 2 of his friends who will have a look and send them if they can. Will let you know what happens
Wonderful :-*, must go now, night shift last night, should have been in bed hours ago ::)
OK then, howzabout this for a plan?
1) 1st, you try to get them, Babs, via your kind OH's mates & post here how it's going....
2) I don't have my dates for the US yet, but I'll be going for 2 weeks, poss the last 2 in Sept or thereabouts/ end Sept to beg. October.
3) Should kind OH's mates not have come up with the goodies by the time I leave, I'll get them & bring them back. If it means I have to get them by post within the US, I'll be there for long enough for mail to arrive.
One way or another, Tiller, we'll get you sorted ;D
Just caught up on this thread - I bought a packet from a UK supplier on-line last year.
Try the obvious candidates - Mr Fothergills was one I used a lot then. I'm sure you can get them over here.
Alishka, what a star, wish I was half as organised as you ;D
Froglets, are you sure it was the same variety, Chires? I've been searching for a UK supplier for 3 years now, if Fothergills sell them I'll eat my hat ;)
I take it back - wrong variety - sorry for getting any hopes up.
I'll get my coat ( might have to by the look of the skies here)
I'd like to thank everyone who tried to obtain the above seeds for me and I'm happy to say that I'm now in possession of a packet thanks to a very kind gentleman from Ohio ;D
That's wonderful MT 8)
Well done MT. You'll have to let us know what they're like. Sorry I couldn't have been more help

and I would have been even less......NC trip unexpectedly cancelled :'( Really pleased that you've got them MT :)
Don't know if you can read it but it says "can yield up to 40 ears of baby corn per plant. Plants often have 3 to 5 stalks with 8 to 12 ears per stalk". I can forget about Minipop from now on 8)
