1. Taken in the back garden of the cottage we stayed in, at Bridge of Orchy
2. River/Glen Orchy between Bridge of Orchy and Inverlochy
3. Somewhere on the backroad between Inverhope & Altnaharra

My first visit to the Highlands & it was fantastic, tripping over Red Deer and Ospreys. I am in the process of convincing my beloved that it would be a great place to live

Well Merry my dad stays in the Highlands and it is wonderful. He is in Aviemore and i love going up there, I am in Dundee.
MOst people up there have moved from outwith the area and they are all glad they made the move, so if you ever manage to convince the OH you will enjoy it.

I spent a few days camping at Bridge of Orchy once, doing some hillwalking. I went over the Blackmount, and slept out at the far end, then walked back the following day. The thing I always remember is the midges. Sleeping out on the moor, there were so many that in the end I got into an emergency bag (like a big plastic bag) that I had, it was the only time I ever used the thing, and I got rid of it not long after. But I could quite literally hear the thousands of midges crawling over the d**n thing while I nearly drowned in the condensation inside.

Back then (early 70's) I tried all sorts of sprays, none of which worked, and gave up when i used one on a six-week camping trip which de-waterproofed my tent.

Whatever you say Robert, Scotland is a beautiful place, North, South, East, West. midgies are just a pest but not there all year round.   ::) ::) ::)

Here is my local view  ......

I used to spend loads of time up in the Highlands, at all seasons. Some of the best times were in the depths of winter. But the midges that year were incredible.

Carol, what a fantastic view, I would give anything to look out on something like that.  I have just come back from Cornwall staying in a cottage with a superb view and am feeling quite claustophobic at the moment.

I haven't been to Scotland for years but am hoping to soon.  I have been doing some family tree research and have found a whole load of scottish ancestors so hopefully one day will come and see where they lived.  Probably when there is no-one sitting in the back of the car asking 'are we there yet?'!

Enjoy your view.

T.

Ps forgot to say MT, I think your river photos are spectacular and have put that on my list of 'must sees'!

Carol. Lovely views. The more pics I see on A4A of Scottish scenery the more I want to visit. I have never  visited Scotland but Charlie used to drive one of our lorries to different parts of Sclotlnd and he always said the scenery was out of this world..
