Title: Squash ID and thanks
Post by: glow777 on July 30, 2006, 18:00:26
First off this post goes with a big thanks to busy_lizzie, svea & supersprout suppliers of the finest squash seeds on A4A.

Due to my stupidity I labelled most of these squashes with a non waterproof pen and / or lost the labels. Anyway they are all doing well and all swelling nicely most have been identified by google. Would you believe I've got 10 different varieties Pics attached of a few and hopefully a positive ID or two.

Ta again
Ian

I asked about this in another thread but here's the pic anyway
I think it's a spaghetti squash any tips etc welcome I have 4 big fruit at the moment. Th plank is part of my pub picnic table and is 12" wide

Pic 2
This is the one I can't work out my best guess would be a uchiri Kuchi Gourd
pictured with various weeds - heavy fruiter but not very big

Finally no proper fruit on this one tho it looks about to go mad. I'm pretty sure its a Queensland Blue. I only had one seed germinate but it seems to be the size of three! If you can't tell from the photo its to the right of the sweetcorn going up the climbing frame and the trellis at the back and the water butt.

busy_lizzie did say to allow it a bit of room!

i concur with the first one, the second looks like my golden hubbard which is a variety of uchiki kuri (mine doesnt have any fruit on it yet) so could be what you think. the third piccie is not much use as far as plant ID goes - but the plot is looking tidy :)

but look at this piccie of my golden hubbard:

if anyone has a positive picture ID of an uchiki kuri then that would be good - your no2 looks like my golden hubbard i'd say
i think the uchiki kuri are yellower and smaller though

Svea
I have a golden hubbard correctly labelled (i think) so I will let you know how that turns out

I do think my plant is different to yours as your picture shows the young squashes as green in the background. My squashes start of yellow.

nono, that is a different variety altogether. they start out yellow straight away.
the one in the background is a green Baby Bear.
