Title: Plastic Corks!!
Post by: tim on July 25, 2006, 18:11:08
In ignorance, got a dozen bottles with them

I'm not exactly a wimp when it comes to opening a bottle, but these...................!

Takes every ounce of strength - & will! - to get them out. But then have to use a pair of pliers to get cork off corkscrew.

How DO some of the less fortunate cope??

And the 'automatic' ones have a disclaimer on plastic corks. Not surprised.

It's screw tops only from now on!!

I agree on the resistance of synthetic corks. The best corkscrew I find for these is a design which I have only seen in Spain, which has a machine screw for levering the cork out. The edge of the screw going into the cork is also very sharp which makes it easy to remove - watch your fingers though.
