Title: Dill as a Companion
Post by: Barnowl on July 25, 2006, 12:55:31
Our first year with an allotment and I've been trying to avoid pesticide usage - fleece, enviromesh and companion planting.

I have planted dill in a row alongside my carrots. I now find that there are as many sites saying it is bad companion for carrots as say it's a good one!

Has anyone any direct experience relating to this?

No barnowl, I suspect with all companion planting it's worth drawing your own conclusions from experience ;D

i planted dill last year with the cabbages and broccoli, as it said they like each other. result? i didnt get cabbage white butterfly until very late in the season - when the dill had died away. i think they were protected there

as to carrots and dill? no idea. they are pretty closely related, i thought. only one is more aromatic than the other...
