Title: My first Tomato Blight
Post by: Barnowl on July 24, 2006, 12:41:43
For the first time I have two plants of one variety (a beefsteak from Italy) that both developed what looked very much blight (from internet photos) on some of the fruit on the first two trusses. I picked off the fruit and threw them away ((sorry no pics). For a fortnight I've nervously watched them but both the remaining fruit and the leaves (I stripped off the lower leaves some time earlier)all look OK.

Luckily they are some distance from my main crop. Could the very hot weather have killed off the fungus or am I being too optimistic and should be getting out the Bordeaux?

To spray or not to spray that is the question......

Blight doesn't usually attack the fruit first, sounds like a different problem to me

I'm with MT on that.  I've a couple of browing toms on my otherwise healthy plants that have been well Bordeau'd since fairly early in the season since I've lost the last 2 years crops to the dreaded blight.  Playing safe this year.
