Post by: rosebud on July 23, 2006, 22:31:53
Well that was!!!. I pulled them all out of the ground today , they got on my nerves so slow and not showing a sign of a bean so  they had to go.
Fed up  Pd off Rosebud   Rant over now.

What were they Mary? did you put any kitchen waste under them B4 planting ??? Mine are slow but then I was slow planting them this year, although we got a couple of meals out of them so far and there are plenty of baby beans to follow.

I would have given em a feed of diluted chicken poo B4 pulling em to see if it gave them a bit of a kick to get em running. :(

Well I'm bitterly disappointed in mine too....only two beans to show from 16 healthy plants that have produced lovely big green leaves with loads of blossom that's just been gradually falling off leaving nothing but tiny stalks!!....masses of bumble bees have been around them & surrounding pretty flowers in hanging baskets and in spite of misting with 'sugared water' - none of the flower has 'set'.....

grew them in contents of a grow bag in a trough up canes, which I'd have thought had the correct nutrients in them (well they produced the flowers so must have been ok) but feel so disillusioned :(

however, speaking to folk up at the allotment, seems it's been a pretty bad year for beans anyway so must be the weather.

Will leave them a bit longer cos the leaves still look lovely to look at.
