looks like mildew to me,mine had it til I ate them all straight off the plant yesterday, still tasted fab/shades x
Do not think it is the mildew just too much sun, you need to take them off asap when they are ready.
Best get picking then, Grant. Tasted a couple - seemed fine. The only annoying thing is the thorns are vicious.
No pain no gain as they say. Pick mine yesterday and still picking out thorns.
Yes, been picking the last of my pricklies today too...
yum ;D ouch :'( yum ;D ouch :'( yum ;D ouch :'( yum ;D ouch :'(

Bit too soft focus for my eyes could just be scorch or the annoying rot they get when pecked by birds or bashed against the thorns!
I gave up growing Whinams' it got so much mildew, now have Pax which is supposed to be better but doesn't taste as good!
???
I think it is scorch damage though a couple have been bashed against thorns. I can't remember whether the goosegogs shown in my picture are Whinams or Hickomanii (however that is spelt). I have Pax which has one berry on it. The gooseberries on the lower branches look fine. The discolouration was occuring on the upper-branch fruit that was in the sun. The leaves look fine (except where things like sawfly larvae have been having dinner).
