Posting this here as unsure where to put it - would really like some rain, but still none forecast. Shall be doing rain dance tonight ;D
Oh no ---not more dancing. I can't possibly rain dance any more. How about a communal rain think instead? ;D ;D
Earlier this evening I suddenly heard rain. Oh dear car outside with windows wide open. Dashed out (so that was a waste of money having my hair done this morning ;D) Didn't care my shorts and top were wet but we had rain at last.. It was quite heavy for a few minutes then nothing. It is now stickier than before the short rain!!
Oh well. Has to be the rain dance again.

Oh jen :'( - I don't remember such extreme conditions before -
but then I am so Young ;)
Yippee. We have rain, don't know how long it has been raining as I didn't get up until late (bad night).. It is still very warm, still have fan going but at least it is wet out there. Just heard thunder in the distance.
We've had rain here for the last three hours, heavy and thunder to start then gentler afterwards.... the dancing or thinking seems to be working, keep up the good work!
;D
We had rain but ground still not wet enough. Still can't believe I look forward to rain now.
The forecast for Saturday was early rain clearing and brighter later.
Spot on so went to a beer festival. Got soaked inside & out.
Stair rods & nice steady rain for about 5 hrs.
Checked the soil this morning & it's bone dry 2" down!
Still no rain here :(
Louring loominous clouds this morning, now a gentle pitta patta ... will it stay?(http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e220/supersprout/smilies/eusa_pray.gif)
;D supersprout -- love 'loominous'!
Metcheck says we're due for the odd three or four mm here later but all that'll do is bring out the slugs >:(
ty triffid, sadly prayers were in vain, it all petered out after 30 mins >:( :'( :'(
Well Metcheck is telling us it is raining, but it looks like blue skies and heat to me ...
Yes curry, we are getting 5.1cm at the moment, but I can't see it. Must be the heat ;)
It's obviously evaporating before it reaches the ground. I notice the the thunderstorms the Met Office website was promising seem to have evaporated as well. It was supposed to be a bit cooler today as well, but it's not noticeable.
We are wilting in Wakering wishing we were wet---fat chance :(
All right, who's pinched our rain?
Metcheck clearly says I'm standing in 5.4mm of precipitation but it's NOT HERE: this is happening to other people too.
It's bad enough nicking other people's sugarsnaps but this is beyond the pale pail >:( ;)
;D ;D ;D
pale pail - clever triffs!
7 whole spots fell in West Yorkshire this morning on my way to work ...
Metcheck promisses me nearly 20mm tomorrow, I have 4 empty waterbuts and am begining to think I am praying to the wrong god as the villages all around us have had rain but none here :-( I have come to the conclusion that Metcheck lies, I will wait to be proven wrong (keeping fingers crossed before hubby gets the water bill .........)
Helen
UPDATE 20.29HRS- OMG IT IS RAINING I AM GOING TO MOAN ABOUT MET CHECK AGAIN :)
UPDATE UPDATE 21.16 HOURS - WELL THOSE 6 SPOTS OF RAIN WERE A WASTE OF TIME. AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
All this government has got to do, is the same as they did in 1976, and appoint a Minister for Drought.
Within days of his appointment, the heavens opened. I can remember the prediction that it would take three years to fill the reservoirs. If memory serves, it took about three months!!
Plus sa change, plus le meme chose!!

The pitter patter of rain drips woke me at 4am this morning and get me scurrying out to the washing line to bring in No2's final school shirt of the year ::)
Coming home, the car told me it was 35 oC outside. OH suggested we go out to eat, which got me thinking - let's go to the boat, have BBQ and a swim. Then boys wanted to bring friends, who are moving to Norfolk, most likely never to be seen again...........so by the time I had collected various offspring and provisions from Tesco's, it was close to 6.30pm, the blue sky has disappeared and it's looking stormy and I'm feeling frazzled.
On the way, the skys opened - everyone in the back of the car is in various stages of disappointment (no BBQ/swimming) and I'm thinking, Yippee the plants will live another day :D
3 mins later - it's all over and the pavements are dry............but it had cooled down - only
30 oC
So here I am again, hot and sleep deprived...........I'm a woman on the edge and the summer hols have only just begun and the toms still need watering ::) ::)
Much excitement from Isleworth - I hear thunder and see big flashes lightening, just waiting for the rain to catch up!
It looks like we will have some rain here in Birmingham today thank goodness
Still a woman in waiting............................in Wakering :-\
They're forecasting thuinderstorms for Birmingham today. Hopefully they will turn out to be a bit more than just the latest projected date for the Second Coming!
Had a few showers this morning just down the road in Coventry. Only enough to dampen your shirt though ...
BIG storm about 4 this morning and everything is wet - feels much fresher
hope that you people get some of this soon 8)
At last, we had rain, in fact a good thunderstorm with lashing rain (last evening) my porch at the back of the bungalow and part of the garden was flooded. The dog had her legs crossed but would not go through the water,(stupid mutt) I even put on a coat and ran through the water to try and entice her out to the lawn.(??come to think of it who was the stupid one?)
Pleased that the garden has had a good soaking and I can hear thunder at the moment in the distance so perhaps we will get more this evening. It still remains very muggy but not as uncomfortable as the pasty week.
Lorna
At last - it's raining, it pouring.
It's been raining heavily for the last 20 mins and hopefully it will last a while longer - the storm is still overhead.
I have never been that excited about rain before ;D ;D
Its here too and i'm pleased as I don't have to go to the allotment to water and also its at the end of the day so children haven't been bored, instead they been out playing in it which I don't mind at this time.
Not a rumble of thunder, not a drop of rain.
Hate to be the fly in the ointment , but can we please put off the rain dances until Sunday :-\ Im having a bit of a do/garden party on Saturday and the forcast is (after over 5 weeks without it) rain >:( Sorry folks ;)
rain here too, enough to top the barrels up
Still raining ;D at a good steady pace so that it soaks into the ground. Can't wait to see what all this moisure has done for the pumpkins, squash and sweetcorn. On the downside the evil weed, Horsetail will be rampant ::)
This storm has brought chaos on the roads. Needed to take no2 son's friend home - usually a 10 min round trip. This pm it took 35 mins just to get there.
OH is nightshift driving, just phoned him - all the night shift are still waiting for the day shift to bring the lorries back to the depot - there could be empty shelves in Tesco's tomorrow.
Hooray!
Downpour started here at 5.45pm, finished now, but looks like more might come! have collected every drop I can in buckets, troughs, butts etc.
And it feels cool for a change - lovely!
Still waiting here :'( :'( Nothing, nada, nought, rien, not a flippin drop! >:(
Nor here (of course). Headachey humid horrid-- ho well, I'm going to bed, perchance to dream. Yeah right.......... ::)
DP You will get rain in next 24hours .I have done a big rain dance for you. Don't want all those lovely green areas turning brown.
Lorna
According to metcheck it's raining here now ...
I have just been out to the garden to check, hmmm I think somebody need to explain this to the lovely fluffy clouds !
(http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4586/rainfb7.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Please can somebody do a rain dance for me.
Helen
Tinkie B With pleasure but it may have to be a steady waltz and not a quick step, my poor OLD legs are beginning to ache with all this dancing ::)
Lorna

Well done you :D :D :D
Thank you for the Dance Lorna, I have just been in the garden with my book and bikini tempting the clouds to give me a good soaking but they are not taking the hint!
Thank goodness there is not a hose pipe ban here ....
Lorna, can you get some family members to dance too? Nothing here, and my camellia looks like is has died :'( :'( :'( What will be next???
Woefully wailing in a waterless waste........... in Wakering.
Two spits in Edinburgh then nothing. It'll probably get here tomorrow cos we're planning a barbecue.
Yababdabadooooooo it's raining ;D I don't think it will be enough to do more than lay the dust though :(
Still struggling in the waterless desert of Shropshire. :(
;D ;D ;D ;D
We have had rain!!!
Well, a few spits, looks like more to come tonight! Off to the lottie to admire grateful veg!
Update :-\ just got back, still had to water!!
>:(
YEs! Rain stopped play. We had chicken korma stir fry instead. But it's great to have wind and rain and coolness. Mmmmmm. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
On the other hand the whole garden is still parched, the grass is brown, the goldfish have developed a dry, hacking cough and I'm not even going to talk about the lottie. ;)
Off topic and talking of goldfish, couldn't resist taking a pic of this menu on hols recently. Click on pic and read 2nd choice under pescado.

Needless to say I had the vegetarian option. ;D
Goldfish are a sort of ornamental carp, and the normal ones used to be farmed in medieval times. So they should be good to eat, though they're a bit small. If it strictly is goldfish, of course, and not standard carp!
We had a bit of drizzle this afternoon; it perks things up, but one dry day and it's back to square one.
7mm Sunday & 18mm last night - great!
But where did it go?? That is JIC. Just dust!!
steady rain last night at last here too tim ;D
Yes here too! Just in time to soak my drying onions, garlic and shallots.... :'( :'(
Never happy am I! ;D :P
Never happy either. Darned cold here, still blowing a half-gale.....and my tomatoes need SUN ;D ;D ;D
Chucking it down with rain here ;D
Have to stay in and do housework on my day off >:(
It has rained so hard here over night and this morning that most of my flowers have either been beheaded or flattened :'(
Beautifull sunshine now :)
There may have been another shower last night, but I'm not sure; if it did, it's had time to dry up. Hopefully it should rain again today. But everything's still parched.
A few hours' rain last night. but on inspection of my estate ;D this morning,it seems only to have rained on the house end........! Weird eh ? ???
Does the house end dry off a bit more slowly than elsewhere? There have been several mornings recently when the balcony was well wet, and not a sign of it anywhere else.
Don't think so Robert, garden backs west, and it's a bungalow. Often the rain will be just along the road and still miss us. Apparently Wakering is the driest place in England.(Don't I know it ;D)
Had rain on and off for three days now but only the top 2-3" are damp...
???
Lucky old you - mine's only 2-3mm!
Digging up potatoes today I could go down 9 inches and it was still bone dry. :'(
Digging weeds, the soil just powdered into dust.
Wading in waist high water in Wakering ! (well not quite but it is raining a bit.)
YIPPEE
We have rain too!! ((Happy Dance!)) ;D
Hey - today we really ARE getting some rain - been drizzling for a bit this morning, but now - a veritable downpour, thank goodness!
Got some rain last night, hopefully will be enough to fill up the water butts again. ::) I have given up on rain! But at least it's not as miserably hot as it's been.
Plenty of puddles in Peterborough :)
Oh I just love the alliteration! ;D ;D ;D
