Title: Blossom end rot
Post by: Irish T on July 21, 2006, 14:46:28
I have got roughly 20 tomato plants, 10 in the greenhouse and 10 in pots on the patio. Some in the greenhouse & some outside have got blossom end rot. I cant understand why as they have all been given the same water & once a week feed at the same time of day (late evening)

What am I doing wrong???

You sure its blossom end rot? I thought I had this on some of my beefsteak toms, but someone showed me theirs,  and it tuns out that sometimes they have a sort of callous on the bottom - hard, not soft and rotten. Ok when you cut it away. Just thought I'd mention it.

This is blossom end rot;

Regarding watering; with the exceptional weather we have been having it is not surprising there is a lot about. Containerised tomatoes might even need watering more than once a day.

My tomatoes are nowhere near being ripe yet so I haven't noticed any yet but it won't surprise me if some of my tomatoes become affected.
