Hello all,
I am thinking about making a blog site like the ones that some people have on here but I don't know which one to use, or even where to find them! It needs only be basic cos I prob won't a huge amount on, just want to share a few pics and keep a log for improvements next year! I started off by reading through all the posts to see which ones are popular but carried away and haven't done any work for about an hour! :o
Has anyone got any recommendations? :)
I think many people use http://www.blogger.com/home and I find it pretty easy to use.
I know I do not use all the fancy bits available though.

A quick search brings http://www.blogger.com at the top of the list. But check with your ISP to make sure that they dont provide the sevice.
Alternatively if you see someones blog you like have a look at the company that they are with there will be branding everywhere!
Sanders you beat me by 90 seconds!
Excellent - thanks guys! I'm on way to being a blogger!! ;D
Hi guys,
I've started to use the blogger website and all was going well, but now it doesn't seem to be updating my new posts. I looked on the help section and other people said it sometimes takes a few hours, but it's been a whole day now and still not updated. :( Has anyone else had this happen and what can I do? ???
Hi Sally, I use blogger - sometimes it does have little glitches, for example to add photos I have to go to explorer, as opera is not supported properly ... I would recommend it though, its very easy to use / update.
I've been using Blogger for over a year now and have always found it pretty straightforward and easy to use. However recently I've been having various problems with it (posting from word, uploading photos especially) and am considering moving over to Wordpress, which I think is another popular blog site.
Wordpress can have its little niggles - especially with positioning of images. I currently prefer wordpress to blogger though am actually contemplating going back to my bt webspace. Wordpress doesn't host your pics and I use flickr for storing the pics I use on the web.

sometimes, if you have been continually accessing the same page for quite some time all you need to do is use the 'refresh page' or 'reload page' icon - try that and see if it works

What do you mean by not hosting pics? I've been uploading photos into my wordpress blog, but does this mean that they might disappear? If I delete the photo's from my computer will they also disappear from my blog? I tried using Flickr, but the only problem I had, and there is probably a way around this that I'm unaware of, but when I've posted pics using flickr they appear as a seperate post, whereas I'd rather be able to insert them as part of another post.
Doh, only noticed the insert image, not the upload box beneath.

i too have just started using blogger.com. it took me about three attempts and a whole day to work out what i should be doing, but am happy with what i've got now.
i usually find that if i republish my blog, i still have to press refresh to see the new version. bit strange that but now that i know i have to do it, it's ok.

Had a play with wordpress hosting my pics, but I didn't like it. Went back to flickr.

This will be because of your computers cached temporary files not the blogger.
Try setting
Internet Options | Temporary Internet Files | Settings |
to
"Check for newer versions of stored pages: Every visit to the page"
instead of automatic
this may help.

I use the blogger version too.
If I can use it anybody can!
I recently upgraded to beta version which totally blew my mind with the possibilities of what I could do with it.
I think because I run Firefox helps.
A few of my friends have wordpress but I am sticking with what I have because I can do the stuff you see there without any help.
I dont like to keep having to ask people to do things for me.
A few non-beta users have had probs posting messages but they can always post annonomous.....and leave their names.
