Title: Peppers
Post by: newbies on July 19, 2006, 15:35:00
I have a question about peppers.  I have mine in my greenhouse, and have plenty of leaves.  Do I treat them like tomatoes, and pinch out the side shoots?
Advice welcome!

I don't, I let them bush up and produce even more!  ;D

I wouldn't dream of pinching peppers! I suppose you might get bigger fruit but presumably less of them!

Only my second year of growing. I find peppers seem to be self limiting. They set a certain about 5 peppers then flowers drop until I cut some. I have been taking some green for in salads and those plants have then set more

I have found some individual plants seem to refuse to set a lot of fruit, while others will set layer after layer until they fall over.

Try pinching out the tip, not the side shoots - this seems to make them bush more, then set more fruit.

I'll have to pinch tips as they haven't got anywhere upwards now to grow, hitting the roof!
