Title: Taste the difference?
Post by: lancelotment on July 18, 2006, 13:21:34
last year I grew Cobra french beans and Feltham First peas.  This year I've grown Blue Lake french beans and Meteor peas.  For taste I've found Blue Lake are better then the Cobra were but the Feltham First seemed far superior to the Meteor.  How are things with you?  Lance

Hi Lancelotment

Have to agree with you regarding Meteor, I grew them last year but was very disappointed with the taste. Grew early onward and alderman this both much better.

I hope you are right regarding Blue lake as I have some very nearly ready for picking.

I grow Alderman but much prefer Magnum Bonum which I got from HDRA ( Grow Organic) Heritage seed library. Similarly Blue Coco, Top Of the Pole, and Purple Flowered Beans.

Am growing Blue Lake for the first time and they've just started to grow up their canes, so i've got a while to wait yet before i find out how tasty they are.

I'm banking on them being a success as my runners have decided to go awol amongst the sweet peas.  as i love the sweet peas so much though i've decided to sacrifice the runners - if i find a bean i'll be grateful (and surprised) !  it's a jungle out there !

;D
