Title: ASDA fruit cage bargain !
Post by: MrsKP on July 15, 2006, 09:53:33
Thanks to Lishka I dashed back to ASDA this morning to get three rose arches.  Yesterday I saw one marked up at £6, today I find three @ £3 each !!!

So just got to find myself some cheap netting and bingo, one VERY cheap fruit cage for the lottie next year.

Nothing like being prepared is there ?

;D

Way to go gal!.....SO delighted for U   8)  ;D

modified to add.....to secure them in the ground, I used 4 x 12" 1/2" dia (in old money) copper pipe per arch. Sunk those into the ground & the arch legs slid into them beautifully. It's the pipe that's used for plumbing, so keep your eyes peeled for any going spare. Mine was surplus to someone fitting a shower. Or ask on your local Freecycle for any offcuts?

i got my four existing feet sunk in the plastic tubing that comes with those "keep out" workman type barriers, one of which seemed to have ended up in the back garden !   ::) :P

sunk each tube, positioned feet, filled with sand and gale force winds haven't moved it yet, another top idea of Ms Maxwells !

;D

Asda are also doing gazebos at £6. Pinch 2 of the legs to use as sides ( makes them longer) and cut the other 2 legs in half and you've got a fairly large frame for tall brassica etc.

Is that 'pinch' as in steal or as in 'squeeze'? ;D
