I think it depends on how far growth wise your cabbages have reached, have they developed the ball stage? if not leave them and let them do their thang, pests are pests aren't they? Don't let the b*****s get you down. ;D

Edited to say, when I said leave them I mean't the cabbages not the grubs ;D

Get rid of the caterpillars and hopefully they will recover.

I have grown Primo this year and they recently got a bit nibbled around the edges but the hearts are fine. I sprayed them as soon as I noticed the damage but then I am not organic. If yours are not too bad I would spray them ASAP with one of several suitable insectisides.

If you cut the centre out, they won't grow a big central head, you mught get one or several smaller ones. Never grown the variety Primo II but have grown Greyhound, and know that its not too late to sow some seed and start another lot off. You can do this with January King too, probably others but that's the limit of my cabbage experience.
