Title: Incredibly Early PSB...
Post by: OllieC on July 06, 2006, 18:34:59
...9 months early, I reckon. Just in case I'm being silly, can someone confirm that it shouldn't be flowering now, and also that this is indeed a flower and should be picked and eaten?

Any comments/advice appreciated...

I am yet to stop picking mine since last autumn!  Just as the winter lot finished, the next lot started.  It is possible to have it almost 12 months of the year.  That is indeed a flower, and you can pick it when it is ready and enjoy it!  ;D

I agree with Tim as my PSB was nothing like that :)

Ah, well that's good & thanks for the replies. This is very strange - the plants were given to me as PSB, but I didn't see the label. The chap next door to me had bought them from RHS Wisley but I guess even they can make mistakes. Or, more likely, my neighbour or I could be to blame.

It's a nice surprise anyway & all part of the fun. I've never actually grown and Brassica before.

Thanks again for the info. Oh, and isn't my Purple Broccoli looking lovely?!?!  ;)

That looks like Cauliflower "Graffitti" to me. A purple summer cauli.

Forgive me if I am wrong....just a novice!
