HI GUYS,
BEING NEW TO THIS WHOLE ALLOTMENT THING IM A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT MY CAULI'S.
I PLANTED THEM ABOUT 6 WEEKS IF NOT MORE AGO.....INITIALLY THEY WERE UNDER HEAVY ATTACK FROM PIDGEONS UNTIL I GOT THEM SOME PROTECTION....
THEY HAVE REGAINED SHAPE AND NOW SIT ABOUT A FOOT FROM ONE LEAF EDGE TO ANOTHER....THING IS...ONLY ONE OF THEM HAS WHITE IN THE MIDDLE AND THIS IS THE SMALLEST ONE....ARE MY OTHERS JUST SHOOTING BLANKS? OR AM I JUST IMPATIENT?
REGARDS AJ
Quote; OR AM I JUST IMPATIENT?
In a word; Yes ;D
Are the middle green leaves beginning to twist? if so you should be OK
I would guess that the smaller plant was flowering early because it was unhappy?
Typically, a cauli - or, in this case, calabrese plant, just cut - has to be quite large before it produces.
One may welll have been flowering prematurely because of the drought; they like a constant water supply. I f a plant 'feels' threatened in some way, it often responds by early flowering and quick seed production.
Ooo, twisting leaves, is that how you tell it is behaving properly teegee? I have had zero success with caulis in the past...well maybe 1% success, but today on the plot I noticed their tight middle leaves were twisting in circles. Does this mean I will (might) get okay caulis?
THANKS MINE ARE DEF TWISTING SO FINGERS CROSSED, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP :D
REGARDS AJ
PS...GOT SOME TIN FOR ME SHED LAST NIGHT LOOKS A BEAUTY.....SORRY FOR OFF TOPIC
This is what I meant when I say 'curling leaves'

My Dad used to say that cauli need rain in the day and a full moon at night.
