Just lifted it; as you see, it's quite satisfactorily elephantine.

I have lifted 3 of my 14 plants so far.
Need to save at least 6 for seed, but the rest are awaiting consumption !

I'm saving the biggest two for seed, and eating the rest.

Novice elephant garlic grower here.  Flower bud apparent but not yet open.  Should I have cut it off and should I be harvesting whilst all is still very green and flourishing?  (Am I so behind?)

It's better to cut it off because then the bulb gets bigger. It's harvesting time now, but I waited until the foliage was turning really yellow.

After I'd cut all mine off and thrown them in the compost :-[ someone posted that these garlic 'scapes' are a delicacy - chop it off and eat it! :)
