So, I've pulled my harvest, left it curing on a drying rack for a week or so now.... and I'm just googling for information on tried and tested methods for making a big strng of garlic.... and come up with nowt!
Any garlic bunching gurus got the know-how? Care to share?
Unless you want to do a snazzy deli plait, just stick to the garlic farm's method. Same like onions, really?
Done one of those in the torrid heat this morning. The result is now hanging from a screw fixed into my kitchen wall.
See jerry's link bellebouche:

I can feel a 'plaited garlic' competition coming on tim and curry ;)
WAH!
/me weeps uncontrollably into morning coffee.
That, Superpsprout, is just what I wanted to achieve. Tragically I think I've trimmed my tops a touch too short when I was cleaning/prepping the bulbs after they'd been curing.
Oh well, maybe next year. I'll give it a go but I think I'll be doing a dozen or so 'mini' plaits rather than one big majestic one. If any of the results look even half reasonable then I'll post back my efforts
Oh! :-[
Could you fake it with string or raffia knotted round the short stalks and plait (like hair extensions ;D)?
Cheer up bellebouche, bet your continental coffee is nicer than my supermarket coffee ;)
This is an innerestin site :) Especially the bit about botulism. It would appear I am lucky to be alive ::)

(off thread - how are alfie's squash doing?)
Futusu, winter & dumpling are growing merrily. Triamble didn't germinate :(
I've saved the rest for next year! Ran out of space X
