Title: Ridge Cucumber
Post by: Georgie on July 01, 2006, 14:00:32
Hi.  I'm growing 'burpless tasty green' in pots.  I forgot to pinch them out (as I've just read i was supposed to do) but never mind.  My question is how many cucumbers should I allow to develop on each plant please?  I'm assuming each fruit needs loads of water and that too many per plant will lead to inferior crops but as I've never grown cucumber before I'd welcome your thoughts.

I haven't pinched mine out Georgie but then they haven't grown to any real length.  They have produced some fruit though.  ;D

Didn't know I was supposed to pinch out :-\
Oh well, all I can go on is what I did last year.  Can't remember variety from last year just bought a couple of plants from the garden centre (it was too late to sow my own) plonked them in and kept them watered.  I had loads of cucs, didn't stop the plants at all.  Will do the same this year and hope I get as good results.

I just let them go and grow as many as they want. they always seem to do fine as long as the slugs don't get them.
