Title: asparagus question
Post by: caroline7758 on June 27, 2006, 20:26:02
Is there any need to water asparagus after I've stopped picking them? Just don't want to waste precious water if it's not necessary.

Once established I hardly water mine anyway and not at all after harvest.

Never water mine, before or after I've stopped picking them.

Just heard on GQT that it's a good time to feed them now with a general fertiliser.

The best possible mulch for Sparrow Grass and it deters the dreaded slugs....If your Sparrow Grass bed was prepared properly, there should never be a need to water...just a general feed then cut the stems back in a few months and put them to bed until next year's harvest....
