Mine were quite 'thin' last year but still edible. Perhaps it is to do with our temperatures and number of hours of sunshine (or lack of it)?

And they are now being grown over here?

I'm fair 'mazed!!

Yes - home grown are great ,but Wife keeps saying 'aren't the bought ones super'?    Gnash!!

Sure I read somewhere that they have quite a high need for calcium - about the same amount of calcium as of nitrogen for example. But not sure if this is relevant to the fleshiness of them?

I actually prefer thin walled varieties myself.
