Found this swimming around in the botom of the water butt.
And before you shout about waitng to rescue it, I had my camera in my hand and took the shot while waiting for the net to arrive.
I put the bird on top of the ivy over the arch and she has gone now,So I assume she dried off ok.
Eric,
Looks pretty fed up in the 2nd photo!
Glad you managed to rescue her, was she doing the butterfly??? ;)
Oh does not look very gratefull if looks could kill?
You see Eric with a Digi camera you know your picture is going to be beamed round the world on the internet. She was aware of this and was embarrassed by the indignant position she was in when she was first photographed ;D
Good job you happened to go outside and caught the fledgling in time.
Good for you Eric, our Hero!!!
Them young blackies are having me go round in circles just now. Theres about 10 of them in my garden and they are like children into everything. They come into my conservatory, get trapped in the greenhouse. One this morning was in danger of falling into the pond and so it goes on. Its a hectic time for the parents keeping an eye on them and still feeding some of them.
:) :) :)
i found a wee sparra lurking on one of the netted beds yesterday, had a right panic when i turned up but found a gap in the net before i could open it and let her out.
there was nothing on the bed that would have taken her fancy so lord knows why she was in there to start with.
does anyone else talk to their fledglings/tell them off as if they're kids !!!

Yes I do Mrs KP. 'oh no, don't go there, get out' Watch it now, you are going to fall in!!!! 'Dont take such a big bit, you can't cope with that!' 'OOps' I am enjoying the young ones tho. they are a treat. Yet another young blackie has had a go at walking on water. Only feet away from the Pond was Father probably saying ' You daft lout get out of there'.
;D ;D ;D ;D
hee hee hee ............and do they take any notice ?? do they heck ;D
I had some baby sparrows a while back that were in danger of doing the same thing. They were messing about near the edge waiting to be fed and seemed oblivious to the danger. Fortunately they moved away before anything happened.
The recently we had a dozy wood pigeon decide to try and take a bath and got out of its depth. After a great flap and curfuffle it managed to escape, but knowing pigeons it will probably happen a few more times as they never seem to learn!
