Title: Vernal Equinox = spring?

As it's the Vernal Equinox, does that mean today's the first day of Spring?

If so, someone needs to have words with the weather men!

I believe today - Sunday - is the first day of spring, then british summer time begins next Sunday.  :-\  S'all Greek to me!  ::)
