Title: Hanging baskets and when to prick out
Post by: petemac on June 12, 2006, 22:03:55
My four hanging baskets are beginning to sprout small yellow flowers and are heavy with sprouting leaves.
My question is,do I prick out the new leaves  and do a generall thinning out or do I leave well alone?

I generally "Fly by the seat of my pants" when it comes to allotment work although I do enjoy it.

Much obliged for any advice forthcoming.

What are they? Tagetes? It is still early days yet but, normally, baskets are filled from plants pricked out and grown on. Leave it be and see what you get!

In that case definitely leave well alone, those leaves will be needed to power the plant to produce fuit and make new flower trusses... not long now until the first fruit of your labours!

Yes - Tumbling Tom is a bush variety, so side shoots should be left on.
