Title: Back to potted pots.
Post by: tim on June 12, 2006, 17:46:48
I think I mentioned that I got fed up with waiting for them, when the outdoor ones were liftable? 40 small tubers on 5 plants - would have grown on with patience.

But the thing that I did not mention was that all of them were growing on the stems, rather than the hair roots. Strange??

Very interesting, tubers are just swollen stem/roots do they get further away with growth? Some var.s are know for having tubers close to the stem, a boon when digging if you are clumsy with the fork!

Was that the Colleen Tim?

I have lifted Foremost and Mimi so far this year from pots and they have been very good. In fact Foremost was too good, the size of duck eggs.

Yes - Colleen, Jerry - I'll stick to outdoors next year!

Dad - they were as hard to get off the stem as a Brussels Sprout!

Strange indeed. Mine have been very good again this year, the outdoors ones are a week or 10 days away just yet though. The heavy rain we had last night came at a good time.

Unless they have set a skin in the hot weather and they split with the new swelling!
