Title: Silly question about tomatoes
Post by: Common_Clay on June 07, 2006, 16:30:15
I have some Gartenperle plants but they're described as 'trailing'... probably a very silly question, but does that mean that the plants themselves trail, meaning they'll need to be in containers, or that the tomatoes trail?!

Please be gentle... lol.

Means that the plants will hang down over the edge of the container some what.

Ok, thanks Jerry... that's what I had thought when I got them originally but so far they are standing up straight and proud as the normal outdoor tomatoes are, wondered if I could chance them in the ground. Thanks!

there's been another thread recently about gartenperles reaching for the sky and not drooping.  the couple i've got in baskets are still straight as a die, the one's in the g/h are at least sprawling now with plenty of flowers so i'm just continuing to sit and watch and water and feed and see what happens.

;D

I think when they bush out they will sprawl over the edge of container and with the weight of toms will look like they are trailing.
I hope so done some for me and daughter in law ( new to gardening) dont want her first plants a disaster ohhhhhhhhhhh.
