I had a little surprise when I went to sit on one of my garden benches at the weekend.
Does anyone know what type of spider these are?
they have dispersed from the bench now but my deck is full of tiny streams of silk and the spiders are everywhere.They are almost all asleep in the morning :D
When they wake you can see them trying to learn how to spin webs and catch insects, it's all very messy atm but they are getting there.

That is a nest of spiders,just came out of the eggs,that somewhere was hidden on your wooden bench.What kind of spider,i guess that one with a cross on his back,i dont know the name in english,but here in holland we call them crossspider,obviuos called after the white cross on his back,very comman overhere.
awwww, ickle bibby spidees. I have 3 clusters hanging on my shed hinges so everytime I go in they fly everywhere. I believe that when the time is right, they shoot a strand of silk into the breeze and let it carry them off to pastures new. No idea on variety, ours I would say are identical.

It's the first time I have seen it in action, I suppose the whole thing was over in the space of two or three days, maybe because they are situated outside?
i got thoes on the rabbit hutch ( im scared of them ) so left well alone hubby feed the rabbits i also remember getting them on the hutch when i lived at home
There were about 100 of these critters making their webs around my bicycle which I had parked along the tow path. They are very sweet (at this tiny stage anyway).
Unfortunately, I do not have a name for them.

I think they are the Garden Spider or Cross Spider. They need to have little white dots forming a cross on their backs. If they don't then I'm stumped.
Garden Spiders come in a array of colours and are available in most gardens!
I've got a enormous wolf spider in my shed. She is mint!
