Title: Greenhouse Shading???
Post by: Stork on June 03, 2006, 16:48:28
Hi all.

My greenhouse is currently shaded using bubble wrap.  Has anybody used this? I'm worried it's blocking out slightly too much light.

I would worry more that it would make the temperature even higher!  I have a bamboo blind unrolled over the roof (thanks for the idea Doris Pinks) and that really shades the house fabulously and I can roll it back on dull cool days to let more light in!

I left my bubble film up for about three years and it acted as shading OK. Provided when you put it up you left the vents so that you could use them, there should be no problem. I use automatic vents so they open whenever the temp rises.

The key with shading is that the shade material is on the outside of the house I believe. Cant remember the physics but that is want is recommended I believe.

As my house is shaded by a hedge and tree for a good part of the day I do not have to bother so much.

The roller blind idea is great and the green shading is easy to use on a standard greenhouse.
