Title: Metcheck weather?
Post by: Sheona on June 01, 2006, 07:45:49
Just been on and checked the forecast for my area (Ayrshire) and it's predicting a low of 2 for overnight on Wed 14 June.   Surely we're done with frosts by now, and what do i do about my sweetcorn? Theyre badly needing to be planted, and can't afford to keep them shut in the greenhouse another 2 weeks!

Sheona, that's two weeks off and a lot can happen to effect predicted weather in that time.  I'd go for it and stand by with fleece and newspaper anyway just in case.  Lance

If you are anywhere near the coast I'd Lance's advice and go for it! You have some famous sub-tropical gardens up there don't you?
I can't get sense out of Met check either but the Greenhouses and Poly cannot take any more!
;D

I raised a post on this a couple of weeks ago. Metcheck were forecasting a low of minus 2 one day but the next it had risen to plus 6!
I wouldn't worry about it and plant your sweetcorn out.

i once read that weather can only be accurately predicted up to 5 days in advance...any more than that and it becomes educated guesswork!
