Title: Do sparrow take baths?
Post by: Shirley on May 31, 2006, 18:58:43
I have two bird baths (one seed tray size - the other an upturned plastic lid).  The robin, finches, tits, blackbirds and pigeon (if I don't see him first!) love splashing around and making a mess.  The sparrows just seem to drink from the two baths, but I have never yet seen one get their feet wet. ???

The sparrows in my garden love the birdbath and are in there a lot splashing about. Are the bird baths new to your garden? Perhaps they're still getting used to the idea of having them?

Yep they definitely do. I have a very small stream going into the pond from the filter box and each year at around this time mum and dad sparrow bring their fledglings at least twice a day for their baths. Fun to watch.

Sorry, I posted on the wrong site.  The baths have been in there present position since last autumn.  They must be getting their baths at another site  -  just drink out of mine.  I was just curious - thanks for the replies.
