The tips of my Sturon onions are all yellow. Someone pointed out on the allotments some time ago that perhaps they were in need of water... now we've had absolutely loads and even the most recently planted onions (two weeks or so ago) are now yellow too. Just the tips though. The ground is very heavy clay, despite bags and bags of compost and sand.
I can't seem to figure out from books what this could be. Does anyone know, please? Thanks!
It sounds like a very mild case of chlorosis, most of my garlic and onions have seen it at some time. Chlorosis is a condition caused by low levels of calcium or magnesium, I sprinkle BF&B along the rows at sowing time to try and combat this. It should not be a problem, unless it invades the whole leaf ...
Thanks very much Curry... what is BF&B though, please?
Think it could be Blood, Fish and Bone meal, common_clay
Ah! Thanks AlanP! ;D ;D
