Brilliant! ;D I got there at about 8:50 and after buying a catalogue went in to my favorite gardening show! It’s my second time after last year fairly wet compared to the hottest day for 50 years in May last time! The one thing that is very much the essence of Chelsea is that it is the friendliest one I've been too. Its not at all 'snooty' but everyone is so friendly from exhibiters to fellow exhibit watchers! I came after a bit of shopping ( ;D ) and a great day. I saw Carol and Joe filming last nights pieces and spoke very briefly to Mr. T, when I say brief I mean:
Dan: "Hi Alan!"
Alan: "Good Morning!" walking on looking very serious talking to a BBC lady.
I spoke to Chris Beardshaw about his garden and also Wesley Kerr. I also spoke to Tom Hart-d**e (excuse the name dropping!) about his garden at Lullingstone and about his TV program. I was disappointed to not meet Carol and the lovely Rachel ;D. Never mind- maybe next year!
Chelsea is great, pricey, but still great. It’s certainly worth every penny! The gardens were up of a very high standard and the Great pavilion was out of this world! I thought it was such a great day- I just had to share it with you!
Dan :-)
Sounds like a brilliant day Dan. I would love to go to Chelsea and think it would be worth the money to see everything and soak up the atmosphere, - never mind bump into some gardening favourites. I would love to meet Chris Beardshaw - it is quite puzzling why he suddenly disappeared from the BBC......I think he is a great miss! :D. Glad it lived up to your expectations. :) busy_lizzie
Thanks Busy!
I watched all the coverage on BBC2 and it looked fantastic. I am definately going next year.
Am hopefully going to Hampton Court this year as it's just up the road. I went about 6 years ago and it was very good. Not as special as Chelsea, but more room to breath as the site is huge.
Maybe Chris Beardshaw got fed-up with making programmes about gardens and went back to creating and lecturing about them. His Chelsea garden was gorgeous - really well put together.

Sounds good and think I would like to go. How much does it cost to get in please? If its a ridiculous sum wont consider it. Thanks...
ooooooo Dan, I'm Green, Green, GREEN ... any piccies ?
I especially like the small gardens - we have a small back yard that I intend to tackle when the lottie is in better shape.
We went for a couple of years on the trot, and took my Grandad, and it was fab! I would have paid just to go around the pavillions! Amazing, and the scent was a blast for the nasal passages! Glad you had a great time!
I wish to repeat my request> Can anyone tell me the approximate cost of getting into Chelsea. OH and me would like to attend but we live oop North (Scotland) and with the cost of travel/hotel etc. could work out costly.I would appreciate a reply if anyone knows. Thank you.
oops! Sorry Carole - have only just re-read this thread.
Will try and look it up for you. Not entirely sure how much as I didn't go this year. One thing I would say if you do go next year. Stay in a hotel out of London and go in by train - it would probably work out much cheaper. Hotel rooms near the show grounds are really expensive and hard to find.
Foe example, I live in Woking and can be at London Waterloo in 25 mins.
