I thinned out the carrots this evening - hopefully after the carrot fly had gone to bed ::)
I was so pleased when I found that I was pulling out BABY carrots ;D ;D
It has been a really miserable week but finding hidden gold has made such a difference (I know little things.... ;D)
Had to show you a piccy of my first EVER carrots - I'm so pleased ;D ;D ;D ;D
Oh and they taste amazing as well

Yours are well ahead of mine, they are only just showing their leaves ... they are delicious just washed and eaten raw ...
my first sowing are quite a bit overcrowded but i'm holding off the thinning hoping to get some like yours.
ooooh well done! when did you sow? mine are still teeny. :)
After two trys i'm hoping I have some growing now. If they look like that i'll be well chuffed.
Well done you! ;D
Your carrots look very good, :) I think I have to wait at least another 3 weeks before mine are ready. Your garden looks great, Sharon :D
We have done about four plantings so far and can't even get any to germinate!
>:(
They look lovely. :D
I sowed some almost 2 weeks ago. 2 rows in a normal bed. My first carrot sowings ever. The chap whose allotment we are sharing told OH that they wouldn't come to anything, because the soil wasn't fine enough. And that we should have put them in a raised bed (very raised by the sound of it) to stop the pesky carrot fly.
Went today to find that they are starting to peer though.
I was thinking about putting a fleece barrier round them, but then decided to just leave them be for the moment and sow some in pots in the garden at home 'just in case'.
that's fantastic. Maybe I won't thin mine just yet ;)
Bet they tasted good :) cheers ..Jim
I'd be thrilled with those too, what a find! 8)
well done, what a great bunch of carrots!!
