Title: chilli powder
Post by: fat larry on May 25, 2006, 11:04:15
Hi
somewhere i read to use chilli powder to deter many pests (cos it's hot?) ... but having puffed it over my seedlings in the greenhouse (where something is eating my courgette leaves, and having a nibble at my brassicas that I'm keeping there till big enough to brave the lottie, where they also get chewed) I've driven to work thinking 'is it going to burn my leaves?'

any ideas, experience

Unlikely, but also unlikely to work, as many pests don't have the same taste receptors a s we do. Birds, for example, are totally unfazed by chilli, so no good against pigeons. (Not that I'm suggesting they're in your greenhouse!)
