My cabbages are a bit leggy can I plant them deeply. If so how deep should I go maybe upto the 1st pair of proper leaves? The same goes for my calabrese and purple sprouting.
I'm very new to this, but ours were a bit leggy and we have planted them pretty deep, and they seem ok.
I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along soon to give you an informed answer.
Don't know about 'the knowledge', marjrie, but I sink the whole bare stem.

upto the 1st pair of proper leaves
That's what I do slippy :)
and plant them in firm soil too.
Yes right up to the 1st leaves and press down very firm they will grow more roots from that bare stem and be more stable
;D Good question Slippy Fly, that's solved my problem. ;) ;D
I plant all my brassicas deep up to the first set of leaves. After planting I also tread around the plants as they like to be in firm ground
Plant deep and firmly,I also add a piece of rhubarb first(supposed to stop clubroot).
Rhubarb yes, haven't heard that one for a long time
Planted my cabbages out last week and they were a bit lollipy too but I planted them deep and firmly and netted them, so hopefully they will be okay. The wind is getting up tonight, so just as well other wise they would be blown away.
Love your baby pic MT, so beautiful!! busy_lizzie
