I have (11) for walking, so do use them in my boots - and yes, they are excellent and wouldn't have any others now (having tried others)

But... as to the others, I think there are others things which I'd prefer... this newspaper article sounds more like an advertising feature...

my current list of gifts I'd like...
insect mesh
compost bin (wood)
wood to make pigeon proof veg barriers...
new Meindl walking(/allotment boots) - mine have done a few thousand miles (literally, as they did over 1000 alone in the year 2000...) and so I could do with some new ones...

brilliant idea mat, perhaps Dan could set up a wish list facility on A4a, that would be popular with OHs ;D

I'd add

1m square, 12" tall galvanised mesh seed covers (anti pigeon and anti squirrel)
a compost bin with three huge compartments
someone to put my shed up for me (it's still sitting at the end of the lottie in kit form)  :'(
a kelly kettle :)
